Bounce House Brawlers
My Role:
Level Designer
Bounce House Brawlers is a 2.5D fighting game made in Unity with a focus on the increased amount of knockback compared to other fighting games. The more you knock around your enemies, the bouncier the brawl gets until you’re the last brawler standing.
Since the mechanic of the game was to knock your enemies back into hazards, I needed at least a couple for each level or one hazard along with an added mechanic. After running some themes by our group, we decided to move forward with my Raceway theme where the two hazards were speeding cars traveling through tunnels and rapidly spinning fans that were holding up floating platforms for the players to stand on. Near the end of development I also started to work on an additional level which was called the Clocktower which had grinding gears as hazards and a swinging pendulum in the center to act as another platform.
I took the models and scripts from our different teams to implement everything into my levels through Unity and for each level theme, I made three different layouts using the assets I had access to. In addition to managing my levels, I also created some basic visual effects so players could better understand what was going on in each theme. At the end of development, the game was put up on Itch.io.
