The Hand That Feeds

The Hand that Feeds is a top-down beat em’ up where the player wields a sword that drains the health not only their numerous enemies, but also the user. The player must make it to the end of the game to return the sword to whence it came to free themselves.
For The Hand That Feeds I created the first level of the game which was the Cherry Blossom Garden. I started with an annotated map and asset list and once the assets starting coming in, I implemented them along with any scripts that were required for my level. As development went on, I made sure to keep my level fair and balanced along with making anything I thought would improve the overall look like visual effects or set pieces.
The game only had three levels in total including a final boss level, but had many other mechanics like puzzles, hidden doors and a variety of enemy types to face. At the end of production, it was put up on Itch.io.
