Knighty Night

My Role:

Game Designer

Knighty Night is a top down puzzle based dungeon crawler in which you take on the role of a knight to slay lesser and greater ghosts to eventually escape your confinement.

My major role on the game was to determine the overall scope of the game and then determine what mechanics could and couldn’t be added. As development went on, my determined team members made it possible to add even more mechanics on top of the simple core mechanic of slashing at ghosts and navigating a dungeon. I made sure anything new added to the game was possible given our remaining development time and made sure we would be able to test everything before we put it out for playtesting. My lesser roles on the game included QA testing as previously mentioned and creating the visual effects for the game.

In the end, we had room mechanics ranging from knocking back waves of ghosts all the way to hitting different colored ghosts into their corresponding colored pillars. Near the end of development, we also added and balanced a couple of major bosses into the game so the players had a major experience to build up to at the end of each level. We finished with a very strong product and eventually got our game published on Steam by Mutant Entertainment Studios.
